Rockanje, a true family resort, totally set on beachlovers. The Badstand has traditionally been very popular with families with children. At the coast are sandbanks which make the sea calm and children can play safely at the edge of the water. It’s always a good time at the beach, which has been awarded the Blue Flag and Quality Coast Award for years to come. On the beach there are 5 beachpavilions, each with their own atmosphere. Anyone who wants to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the beach is just walking into the Voornes dune area, which lies directly behind the beach. With right one of Europe’s most beautiful natural areas. Especially the transition from beach to dune area, formed by duindoorn, is beautiful.
Have a full day with the whole family in nature. By bike, mountain bike, horse or on foot. Enjoy kite surfers on the sandy beach, birds on the Green Beach and the silence of the forests behind the dunes. At the Tenellaplas visitor center you can park and recharge your e-bike, you will find everything about the flora and fauna in this unique area. The Dunes of Oostvoorne are at least 264 hectares – and we do not even count on the surrounding areas. It’s a lovely area to wander through. Certainly on a weekday day, it is wonderfully quiet here. The only thing you will encounter is Icelandic ponies and Galloway cattle. They take care of the dunearea.
Rockanje is a historic seaside resort. In the dune area of Voorne there were once typical dune farms, which were part of the beautiful landscape. The Historic Vereniging Westelijk Voorne saved some of the dunes from the demise and moved to the open-air museum De Duinhuisjes. Oostvoorne with her Jacoba Burcht is a perfect base for great cycling and hiking. The fortress of Oostvoorne was founded between 1150 and 1250 by the lords and ladies of Voorne.
On the Oostvoornse Lake, on the north side of Voorne, you can enjoy a variety of watersports. There is a mooring for motor boats, and the very clear water, with depths of up to 40 meters and the lack of flow make it more than suitable for diving. On the banks, there are plenty of recreational opportunities, and cyclists and walkers can enjoy the paths around the lake.
